Matthew W. Rimkunas
Associate
As a litigation associate at the Firm, Matthew focuses on the representation of clients in commercial disputes before state and federal courts. He counsels clients on all aspects of litigation, from pre-commencement negotiation through discovery and trial. Matthew has experience litigating and resolving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, and other related claims. He also assists business owners and entrepreneurs with entity formation and corporate governance, contract drafting and review, and the acquisition and sale of business interests. Matthew frequently collaborates with other attorneys at the Firm and works diligently to advance client goals.
Matthew joined the Firm after graduating magna cum laude from Albany Law School in 2021. While in law school, he served as a research assistant to Professor Patrick M. Connors, the author of New York Practice. Matthew also participated in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Competition and was selected to serve as Editor in Chief of Dr. Vincent Bonventre’s Center for Judicial Process.
In addition, Matthew’s external internship opportunities provided him with practical, hands-on experience in the areas of business and law. While interning at one of the largest financial companies in the country, he worked on intricate tax and estate planning matters for the company’s high-net-worth clients. Thereafter, Matthew interned at the New York State Office of the Attorney General where he contributed to the successful resolution of claims against the State through motion practice and verdict at trial. These experiences give Matthew a distinct advantage when approaching legal issues and allow him to offer a unique value to the clients he serves.
Prior to attending law school, Matthew earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Albany, graduating magna cum laude.
