The Firm’s Mark J. Wagner, Jr., was among a select group of experts chosen from New York State to participate in a Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce event, Cannabis: An Economic Buzz. The event took place remotely on Thursday, January 13, 2022, and received a tremendous response from local business owners and entrepreneurs.
Mark, along with co-panelists Damian Fagon of the New York Cannabis Growers & Processors Association, Tyler Culberson of NAI Platform, and Matthew VanDerbeck of UHY Advisors NY, Inc., and moderator, Christine Nealon of TRIP Inc., discussed a wide range of topics pertaining to New York’s emerging cannabis industry. The subjects that were explored included the application process for the various licenses available under the Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act, the municipalities that opted out of allowing certain cannabis-related businesses to operate within their geographic boundaries, and the highly anticipated release of regulations for adult-use cannabis by the Cannabis Control Board (“CCB”).
The expert panelists also fielded a number of questions from the event’s attendees concerning application fees, resources for those planning to enter New York’s cannabis industry, the issues created by conflicting federal laws, and much more.
The Firm is proud to have been represented by Mark at this exciting event. We continue to follow the progress of New York’s cannabis industry and will provide updates as the CCB releases more information. The Firm remains available to answer all cannabis-related questions and is happy to discuss what steps entrepreneurs can take today to prepare themselves for many of the changes that are expected in the first quarter of 2022.
