Albany, NY – (PRESS RELEASE) – The Wagoner Firm is proud to announce Matthew Wagoner and Eric Leander have been nominated for various 2018 Venture Ecosystem Awards!

Matthew Wagoner has been honored with a Community Catalyst nomination for organizing programs that bringing together diverse startup ecosystem players in the Capital Region, as well as increasing the amount of capital and number of early stage investors in this community. In addition to helping a number of companies as the founding partner of The Wagoner Firm PLLC, in 2018, Matt has been a judge or coach at numerous business plan competitions, and has been an active mentor to early-stage startup founders participating in the IgniteU NY and the StartFast Venture Accelerator, as well as supporting the companies located at the New York BizLab. Matt’s efforts to strengthen the local economy also include playing a leadership role on the Board of Directors for Albany Can Code – a nonprofit coding bootcamp that helps train and connect tech talent to local businesses – and the Albany Barn a sustainable creative arts incubator and community arts center. His recent presentation “Demystifying Due Diligence” for the Eastern NY Angels provided some of their investors with a deeper insight on the process for vetting their potential investments.
Eric Leander was nominated for a Magical Mentor award for having a transformative impact on the trajectory of one more startups in Upstate’s venture ecosystem. “Eric has given more time to the startup community here in the Capital Region and beyond than any other business professional,” said Christine Tate, COO, VARA USA. “In just the last year, Eric has presented and/or mentored teams from the New York BizLab, StartFast Venture Accelerator, IgniteU NY and the NY and NJ Veterans Business Outreach Center. Eric also presented to my class at RPI on legal issues startups face.” Beyond this, Eric gives of his time and expertise to help many of the early-stage businesses at The Wagoner Firm PLLC representing the Firm’s Business Law and Venture Capital division. He’s also a staple at nearly every startup-related event held in the Capital Region.
